Jackson hotel business picks up after latest water crisis

Jackson, miss. (WJTV) – Jackson hotels are recovering from the city’s recent water crisis.

Hilton Homewood Suites management in the Fondren Medical District said business has returned to normal after city water pressure was restored.

On December 24, the hotel lost 90% of its bookings due to freezing temperatures that caused a water pressure outage.

Staff had to be laid off, but Homewood management said the hotel was able to recover quickly and bookings were up.

“Over the past few weeks, our water situation has improved. Our business has returned to what it used to be. This year our sales are actually double what we were last year. We had more guests this past weekend. Ben We’ve been oversold over the weekend, which helps guide the city’s efforts to restore water conditions to the levels needed so business can continue to come into the city,” said Brian Ransom, hotel front desk manager.

Management also said staff hours have returned to normal.
