Michigan agencies are investigating the whereabouts of three local rappers who went missing after a show at a club was canceled 10 days ago, Detroit police said Monday.
Armani Kelly, 28, Dante Wick, 31, and Montoya Givens, 31, were all accomplices and were due to be shot on Jan. 21, according to Major Crimes Squad Commander Michael McGinnis. Played at a club in Detroit.
“From what we understand, the show was canceled, and since then we’ve had a lot of unanswered questions that we’re trying to figure out,” McInnis said, adding that all of their phones went down in the early morning of Jan. 22. All “stopped activity”.
“The next day, the mother of one of the victims reported the missing person. The mother became very active in the investigation and began searching for her vehicle through OnStar,” McGinnis said.
Kelly’s mom found the car in Warren, Mich., where authorities recovered it on Jan. 23, McGinnis said. By Jan. 27, information about Kelly’s disappearance was widely circulated in the media, McInnis said.
“Once that happened, other family members of other missing people realized that was a friend of their loved one, and they hadn’t seen them, so they were all reported missing,” McInnis said.
“We want to find them and get them back to their loved ones,” he said. “Really thinking about the families of the victims in this case, they don’t have answers. They don’t know where their loved ones are.
“We need help,” McInnis said. “If anyone knows something, we ask that please call and share that information with us.”
Kelly’s mother, Lorrie Kemp, told CNN affiliate WXYZ that she tried to find her son by putting up fliers around Lansing, where Kelly grew up.
“I don’t want to be on ‘Dateline’ looking for his body 20 years from now,” she said.
