BEIJING (AP) — The Chinese government criticized U.S. controls on technology exports Monday as a trade violation after Japan and the Netherlands agreed to join Washington in limiting Beijing’s access to materials to make advanced processor chips it says could be used in weapons. .
The foreign ministry made no mention of the latest developments, but accused Washington of abusing export controls to organize other governments to “maintain hegemony” and contain China.
The United States is trying to prevent China from obtaining the most powerful processor chips and technology to help its nascent industry develop manufacturing capabilities. Washington says they can be used to make weapons and facilitate surveillance and human rights abuses by the ruling Communist Party.

“This seriously violates market principles and international trade order,” said Commerce Ministry spokesman Mao Ning. She said it “destroyed the stability of global industrial chains and supply chains”.
A person familiar with the agreement told The Associated Press on Sunday that Japan and the Netherlands, key suppliers of technology and raw materials for making chips, agreed to join the U.S. controls.
Mao did not say how Beijing would respond to stricter export controls.
The Communist Party has poured billions of dollars into developing its own chip industry, but its suppliers still need foreign manufacturing equipment, raw materials and other technology.
Industry experts say Chinese producers are improving but unable to make the chips needed for the most advanced smartphones and other products.
